About the Charismatic Renewal

The Catholic Charismatic Renewal is a grace of Pentecost poured anew upon the Church today, reviving the living flame of faith that began in the Upper Room when the disciples were “all filled with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:4). Through prayer, praise, worship, and the exercise of spiritual gifts, the Renewal seeks to awaken Catholics to a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, a fuller life in the Spirit, and a burning love for the Word of God and the Sacraments.

Across Africa and the world, countless men and women have encountered a fresh joy in their Catholic faith through this movement—discovering a community where the gifts of the Spirit bring healing, hope, and unity in the Body of Christ. As St. Paul reminds us:

“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good” (1 Corinthians 12:7).
