Eucharistic

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

We are delighted to welcome you to the Eucharistic Ministry page of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Dubai. As followers of Christ, we believe that the Eucharist is the very heart of our Catholic faith. It is the source and summit of our Christian life, the greatest gift we have been given, and the most profound way in which we encounter the living Christ in our midst. Through this sacred ministry, we are called to serve with reverence, love, and humility, becoming vessels of His grace, distributing His Body and Blood to the faithful.

The Eucharistic Ministry: A Call to Serve Christ in the Most Sacred Way

The Eucharistic Ministry is a noble calling within the Church, and it is through this ministry that we help bring Christ to His people. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 1324) reminds us, “The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life.” Each time the Eucharist is celebrated, the bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, and this sacred mystery allows us to partake in His divine nature.

It is through this ministry that the faithful are able to receive the Holy Eucharist, the true Body and Blood of our Savior, in the liturgy. The Eucharistic ministers are called to assist in the distribution of the Eucharist during Mass and to take Holy Communion to the sick and homebound, ensuring that no one is excluded from the grace and nourishment that comes from receiving Christ.

The Eucharist is not just a ritual; it is the true presence of Jesus Christ, as He Himself declared in John 6:56: “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them.” In the Eucharist, we are drawn into an intimate communion with Jesus Christ, and it is this profound reality that makes the Eucharistic Ministry so sacred.

Through this ministry, we help to build up the Body of Christ, as 1 Corinthians 12:27 reminds us: “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” As Eucharistic Ministers, we are not just distributing communion; we are helping to nourish the spiritual life of our community, assisting our fellow parishioners in their journey of faith, and being a conduit of Christ’s love and grace.

The Eucharistic Ministry in the Liturgical Life of the Church

The act of distributing the Eucharist is one of the most sacred and important roles in the liturgy. At St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Dubai, we recognize the privilege and responsibility that comes with this calling. The ministry ensures that the faithful, whether gathered for Mass or unable to attend due to illness, can experience the life-giving presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

The Eucharist is both a memorial and a sacrifice, as 1 Corinthians 11:23-24 states: “For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, ‘This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.'” Through this sacrament, we are invited into deeper communion with Christ, and as Eucharistic Ministers, we are called to share this holy gift with others.

As members of the Eucharistic Ministry at St. Mary’s, we play an essential role in making the Body of Christ accessible to all, whether by assisting at the altar during Mass or by taking the Eucharist to those who are unable to attend church. It is a humbling and rewarding ministry that calls us to serve with love, respect, and devotion.

A Call to Serve: Join the Eucharistic Ministry

At St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Dubai, we invite you to consider answering the call to serve in this sacred ministry. Whether you are drawn to assist during Mass or to take Holy Communion to the sick and homebound, there is a place for you in the Eucharistic Ministry. If you feel called to deepen your faith through service and to help others encounter Christ in the Eucharist, we encourage you to prayerfully consider joining.

As Matthew 26:26 teaches us: “While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Take and eat; this is my body.'” By becoming a Eucharistic Minister, you, too, will be taking part in this sacred act of giving, offering the Body and Blood of Christ to your fellow parishioners, and serving the Church with humility and love.

We are reminded in Romans 12:1 that we should “offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.” In the Eucharistic Ministry, we offer our very selves in service to the Lord, becoming vessels of His grace and instruments of His peace.
